CLUB NEWS

I hope everyone is having a great start to Summer! I want to take some time to thank everyone over the past few months as we have been dealing with staffing issues. Many industries have been struggling getting a full staff and we are no different. After COVID, it has been a major challenge for us to get certain departments staffed the way we were in the past. We are slowly getting back on our feet but I just want to thank everyone for their patience.

I want to also inform everyone that we will be switching to a new software system that will also affect your current OVAC App. The new system will have the same functions to reserve lap lanes and view your account but will not be App based. It will be a website that is easy to navigate. We will send out another email once the new system is in place so everyone knows where to go to get to their account.

I hope everyone enjoys the club this June. This Summer will be busy so please be patient and respectful of others. We want everyone to enjoy the club. The lifeguards are also back and that means the diving board is open again! Also, don't forget our great Tennis Camps throughout the entire Summer!

See Ya at the Club!

Ryan

FIRST MOVE WELL, THEN MOVE OFTEN!

First Move Well, Then Move Often! is the tagline for The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) developed by physical therapists Gray Cook and Lee Burton in the 1990s. The goal of FMS is to identify movement deficiencies and asymmetries, which can create weak links leading to injury and pain in everyday life and at the gym.

OVAC's personal trainers perform the FMS with new clients at the first personal training session. During the assessment you'll be asked to perform specific exercises that are used to evaluate seven fundamental movement patterns. These exercises are:

  1. Deep squat
  2. Hurdle step
  3. Lunge
  4. Leg raise
  5. Pushups
  6. Rotary stability
  7. Shoulder mobility

The FMS gives OVAC Personal Trainers the information they need to develop a customized exercise strategy to improve functional movement patterns and address any identified compensatory movement patterns that can lead to future injury.

I strongly recommend you take advantage of the FMS to ensure your exercise regime provides the maximum benefit and improvement. There is magic in addressing underlying weaknesses which hold you back from your everyday life and stop you from making your biggest gains in the gym.

Starting now through June 30th, I am offering a free 30-minute FMS screen. You can text or call me at 805-797-8388.

Remember: First Move Well, Then Move Often!
