CLUB UPDATE

I hope everyone had a great May and is ready for the Summer months. A couple of things happening here at the club that might be of interest. Starting early June, we will start the family hot tub project. Should take about a week to complete. The adult hot tub will be available for everyone during this time.

Check out the new items on the Café deck. We have a new ping pong table, Connect Four game, and a cornhole set. A great way to have some fun while enjoying some food or drinks.

We will open the diving board starting June 15th. The official start of Summer!!

See Ya at the Club!
Ryan

DUES INCREASE JUNE 1ST

Whether you are a brand new member or have been with us since the beginning, we are grateful to each and every one of you for being a member of Ojai Valley Athletic Club. Each year we evaluate the costs of running the club, while trying to keep member's needs in mind. With rising costs across the board there will be a four to five percent increase starting June 1st. We are working hard to make OVAC the best club possible and will continue with ongoing improvements from fitness, swim, tennis and everything in between. Thanks again for your support!

GUEST POLICY DURING THE MONTHS JUNE-AUGUST

As we try to provide the best experience for our members, we have noticed a large amount of guests coming to the club during the warmer days of the week. As the Summer approaches we want to balance the ability of members to bring guests but also keep the club from being too crowded.

OVAC Guest Policy for June, July, August:
OVAC members can bring two guests to the club. That's two guests per membership. Members are still able to use their guest passes during these months.
Day Passes will not be available for any guests unless they are with a member. The two guests per membership still applies,

We hope this will help control the busy Summer months and allow all members an opportunity to enjoy the club!!

PING PONG SIGNUP

If any members are interested in getting a game of Ping Pong here at the club please feel free to contact Ryan at [email protected] to get on the list. We have a new table and some members are interested in getting a group together. We hope to get some fun competition going here at the club!!

KEEPING UP WITH MAT WORK

As most of you know, here at the OVAC, our Pilates Department does private sessions,
but we also have many Mat Pilates classes offered throughout the week as part of your
membership. Many of you have used our Zoom as a way of participation. Since Zoom is coming to an end, I am posting a Youtube link of my Mat Pilates class if you would like to use that. However, I strongly encourage you to come to our classes on site as well, as it is so fun and inspiring to be around all our consistent Pilates lovers!

On another note, a reminder that we have a total of 3 instructors working in our Private Studio! Please sign up for your free private Pilates session across from the front desk if you have not already.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO IT ALONE

By Danielle Wommack

It's called a WORKOUT for a reason. It's WORK. Although it is rewarding work, with a long list of benefits, it isn't easy. One simple and very effective way to make it feel less like work and more like play is to workout with others. In fact, group workouts are proven to be more effective at helping you achieve your fitness goals and in less time.

I realize that the thought of doing a group workout can be very intimidating but don't let that stop you from joining the fun. Group training is very much a judgment free zone here at OVAC. Everyone is focused on improving themselves and welcomes the chance to support and encourage others. And it is completely normal and acceptable to use exercise modifications provided by the coach or personal trainer to match your specific body's needs. There is only one important factor for you to focus on to achieve your fitness goals – keep showing up and keep trying.

Participants in group training will consist of people at all stages of their fitness journey and comparing yourself to others is discouraged. Your coach/trainer will be there every step of the way to promote progress, not perfection. And one of the best parts? You will have a tribe surrounding you to keep each other motivated and hold each other accountable for showing up. You will support and encourage each other to keep pushing yourself to improve. Not to mention the camaraderie and laughter that makes the sessions fly by.

OVAC's most knowledgeable and experienced personal trainers are ready to guide you through your complimentary trial session and show you that Small Group Personal Training really is right for you, no matter what your fitness level. Do not think that you are not in good enough shape to take advantage of your complimentary session – most of our current participants started right where you are today and are so proud with all that they achieved. And as a bonus you'll have a whole new tribe of fitness friends.

imgTo help you experience this oasis of support and motivation in our results-driven sessions, we are offering all members the opportunity to try their first Small Group Training class at no charge. Once you fall in love with it, and we know you will, the cost to continue is a fraction of the cost of one-on-one personal training. In fact, it can be less than $25 per session. It's time to take the next step on your fitness journey to achieve real results with other real people and schedule that first complimentary session (text or call):

PERSONAL TRAINER HIGHLIGHT, TRUDIE TOWN

Let's face it, it can be hard to stay committed to a fitness program. Joining the gym, you have great intentions to get into shape and be consistent and then life happens, and all kinds of excuses present themselves.

What if you had someone to hold you accountable? That someone is a personal trainer. At OVAC, there are several ways to engage with a personal trainer: individual, semi-private (2-3 people) and Small Group training sessions.

Small Group training provides members with a cost-effective way to experience the benefits of working with a fitness professional. Working out with friends and a trainer just might provide the motivation and accountability you need to reach your fitness goals. Small Groups of 2-8 people allow the personal trainer to connect with each individual while also giving proper attention to each participant's safety, form and alignment.

imgI'm Trudie Town, a Master Personal Trainer at Ojai Valley Athletic Club. If you're looking to change things up, why not try my 9:00-9:45AM Saturday morning Small Group Training class? The first one is free, and you can bring a friend! If it sounds like this could work for you, please contact me at 805 797-8388. I am also available for private one-on-one training. Hope to see you soon!

TENNIS BALL RECYCLING

I still see an awful lot of balls in the courtside trash cans. They don't need to nor should they be thrown out. If placed in our recycling containers they are repurposed after being ground up.

A reminder to please use our tennis ball recycler near the deck between courts 5&6and the cardboard recycling bins located in several locations around the lobby. We don't want our used balls winding up in landfills when they can be repurposed.
