OVAC NEWS

I hope everyone had a chance to watch some of The Ojai this year. It was just amazing having the event back after three years. The team format is so fun and exciting to watch. Also, the new courts looked great!

We got the new bottle filler put in the men's locker room last week. We also were able to get two of the three shade structures back up and looking good. The new, fun item that has been a hit so far is the Theragun station we added located in the lobby. It is such an amazing tool that is free of charge for members to use before or after your workout. If you have questions about Theraguns please don't hesitate to contact us. Our trainers can help get people on the right track to use this helpful tool.

I hope everyone has a great May and gets a chance to enjoy the club!

See Ya at the Club!

Ryan

AQUATICS NEWS

Hello OVAC Swimmers!

The club pools are such an amazing outlet for families to recreate and we are all so grateful for this resource. With summer approaching and pool usage ramping up, I want to remind everyone to stay safe and keep a close eye on your little ones. Children under 43 inches must wear a puddle jumper/life vest (loaners are available) and be within arms reach of a guardian.

Also, with the rec pool becoming busier please be aware of the lap lanes in the rec pool, those lanes are for lessons and lap swimming. If a swimmer swims across the lanes when someone is lap swimming, a serious collision could happen and it's also frustrating for the lap swimmers.

Additionally, as the days become longer and the weather heats up, swim lessons become a must have! We currently have group lessons, private lessons and a beginning swim team for families looking to get kids ready and safe for the summer swim season. Please contact me if you are looking for swim options for you or your kids, or have questions about our Aquatic programming.

See you at the pool!

PILATES IS GOOD FOR EVERYONE

Georgia Cotsis, Pilates Director
[email protected] (805)272-5619

There are so many times where we use the excuse that a certain exercise form is not for us. It makes sense to feel that way, however, it is extremely important to keep variety to your exercise routine. Just like how it is much healthier to have a balanced diet. We never want too much of one thing.

When it came to my life, for example, I love to dance, but at a certain point I knew that was not all that was needed even though at times I was dancing all day. Which included stretching, yoga, and multiple techniques. That is saying something! Our bodies need full cardio, stretch, yoga, weight training, mind/body connection, and Pilates! And many others that we like to do!

The reason I say Pilates specifically is for everyone is because this art form of exercise will assist you and enhance your performance in all of these other goals we have throughout our week.

Please sign up for your free Pilates session with me or Kelsey if you have not already. Sign up sheet is across from the front desk.

MASSAGE GIVES US THE SPACE WE NEED

Georgia Cotsis, Massage Therapist
[email protected]

The reason I am talking specifically about space in the body is because I remember we watched a video in massage school that showed us the inside of a person that had passed away and how our fascia and fat builds up. Our body is meant to build fascia in certain areas of the body that need more protection/support, so the body is essentially working harder at that point. Yes, this is bound to happen no matter what, but it was inspiring to see it in this way as motivation to keep FLUIDITY to the body. You have ONE body…we need the toxins, inflammation, soreness, compacted areas, and thoughts to be flushed out!

If there is consistency to this, the body will not have to work as hard to move and feel the way we want it to. There is always a way to make our lives easier and massage is one of the greatest answers!

Please contact me to book a massage, or come back for another one!

TENNIS BALL RECYCLER

A reminder to please use our tennis ball recycler near the deck between courts 5&6. We don't want our used balls winding up in landfills when they can be repurposed. Also don't forget the cardboard tennis ball recycling boxes located in the lobby of the club.

Looking for mens and womens singles players for participation in a singles ladder at the club. You would challenge others above you on the ladder or be challenged by those below you and complete matches within a designated time frame. Please contact Steve at 805-746-0819 if interested.
