November Newsletter 2021
OVAC UPDATE
It was so cool getting our first big rain of the season early this year. It made me happy trying to find my raincoat and umbrella! This Fall brings some new things,... and some old... to OVAC. We are so excited to start introducing Massage to the club. Our amazing Pilates Director, Georgia is starting this month! If you know Georgia then you know you will get an amazing service. Located downstairs, the Massage Room will allow you to be in a peaceful and professional environment. We hope you will consider us the next time you are looking to get a Massage!
We are also happy to announce that coffee is back in the lounge area! I know some of you have been waiting ever so patiently and we thank you. We hope this will allow you to enjoy the club even more.
Finally, we are adding a Happy Hour to all members at the Fox Street Eatery on Fridays from 4-6. Enjoy discount prices on all our items on the menu. Also be on the lookout for "Takeout Tuesdays" starting this month. I absolutely love not having to cook. Rebekah and her staff always do a great job making great dinners to take home to the family. I highly recommend each member giving it a try. You won't regret it!
Enjoy Fall at OVAC!
See Ya at the Club,
Ryan

FALL FITNESS TIPS
-Danielle Wommack, Fitness Director
Whether you are looking to get stronger, faster, improve your endurance, or just want to be healthier, here are 5 quick tips:
- Set Specific Goals: The word "specific" is vital here. For example, there is a difference between I want to lose weight and I want to lose 5 lbs. An even better goal though will not focus on the result, but rather the process. So, this aforementioned goal could be re-phrased to committing to exercising 4 days a week and tracking this in a calendar for the next two months. Note that this goal is also reasonable, measurable and has a specific time frame. Once your goal is met, set a new one!
- Drink More Water: Don't allow dehydration to be the cause of poor performance, poor sleep, bad skin, low energy levels, mood swings, slower recovery, and hunger (just to name a few of the negative results). Aim for drinking half your body weight in ounces of water.
- Train with a Friend: Not only does it make the workout more fun, you are much more likely to be consistent and push yourself a bit more. Here at OVAC our amazing Small Group Personal Training program is a great way to accomplish this. At less than a third the cost of one-on-one personal training, working out in a small group leads to quicker results and a lot more laughs. We offer sessions mornings, evenings, and weekends. Feel free to email me at [email protected] for more details.
- Focus on Quality: Five well-executed repetitions of an exercise is better that 10 repetitions with poor form. Similarly, a nutrient dense meal consisting of whole foods is much more beneficial than similar calories from processed junk food.
- Consistency Rules: Small efforts performed consistently will always lead to the best results. So, make sure when setting your goals, you are at least 80% sure you can consistently commit to it. If not, scale back the goal until you are at least 80% sure you can do it consistently.

PRIVATE PILATES
INSTRUCTORS ARE HERE FOR YOU
Georgia Cotsis, Pilates Director & Massage Therapist
As more people start to try Pilates for the first time I hear this statement… "At first I didn't feel like I was doing a lot, but then I felt so much stronger later." What a nice feeling…to be able to enjoy the precision, clarity, and ease in a work out; with getting more results compared to when we overwork the body!
The Pilates studio has been busy! A reminder that we have our other instructor, Kelsey here who has some slots available! She is incredible. I had the pleasure of working with Kelsey in college. We both studied dance and Pilates together. Kelsey is not only a Pilates instructor that gives her clients a challenge, but she also is an amazing ballet dancer. Having that background has been a great addition to the Pilates studio. If you have not done your Free Private Pilates Session, you may contact Kelsey at…[email protected]
MASSAGE IS HERE!

I will be available at the spa Wednesday mornings and afternoons and limited hours on all other weekdays. Please book your massage by contacting me at [email protected] or (805)272-5619
